Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. The Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. The Helix Mattress

Construction The Helix Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). The Helix Mattress
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models sound right, you may always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. The Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. The Helix Mattress
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
