Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Who Makes Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Who Makes Helix Mattress

Construction Who Makes Helix Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Who Makes Helix Mattress
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options feel right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Who Makes Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Who Makes Helix Mattress
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
