Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Who Owns Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective option provides a unique combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.

Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Who Owns Helix Mattress

Construction Who Owns Helix Mattress

All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Who Owns Helix Mattress

Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.

Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.

Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.

Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of these models seem right, you could always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Who Owns Helix Mattress

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Who Owns Helix Mattress

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
